We’re excited that so many of you signed up to attend our Community Read! Our first meeting is tomorrow on Tuesday, September 30th, and we will continue to meet on the last Tuesday of every month for the next nine months. If you haven’t yet, please register to receive the Zoom link and sign up for our Community Read email list to ensure you receive meeting reminders and pre-work information.
Here is a list of the recommended pre-work to complete prior to next Tuesday’s gathering:
Read or listen to:
• Prelude: An Ocean Story
• Section on POSSIBILITY
To prepare for discussion:
• Have a paper for drawing during the meeting, or download this sheet and print out at home
• Think about these questions and come prepared to share:
• How can biophilia be cultivated and serve as a foundation for climate action – broadly and in your own community?
• What examples have you seen of how climate change is impacting the community in which you live? What are the most powerful examples you’ve seen of people addressing this, or even ways you have made a contribution?
• Please explore this resource. Take note of how many solutions have to do with particular sectors of life, such as our food supply, transportation, etc.
If you aren’t able to complete all of this pre-work, we hope you’ll still join us for discussion and learning! You will receive the Zoom link as soon as you register, so check your spam folder if you don’t see it.
Important note: We are choosing to be recording-free to allow space for organic and authentic connection in a live-only space. We will happily provide the content covered at each meeting, so that anyone who misses a meeting can explore that on their own time and in their own way. We encourage you to have live conversations with friends or loved ones in order to build connections and have your own unique experience of exploring this material.
Until we meet,
Your Facilitators: Cheyenne Herlandstein, Rev. Lauren Levwood, Audrey McCann, Dr. Anne-Marie McCartan
P.S. If you’d like more people from your congregation or community to join, here is a link to print a poster about how to sign up.
