UUA \/ UUSC Priorities for the UN Climate Summit: Conference of Parties 27<\/h2>\n

The 27th Conference of Parties (COP) will be held from 6-18 November 2022.\u00a0 Egypt will host nearly 200 countries and their representatives to further the goals of the of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, (UNFCCC).<\/p>\n

The Unitarian Universalist of Association of Congregrations is authorized to send observers from civil society to COP 27 through the UU Service Committee and UUA at the UN Office and will elevate these priorities (still being refined):<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Dedicate funding for Loss and Damages<\/strong>
\n2.\u00a0 Fulfill the US Fair Share of the Green Climate Fund<\/strong>
\n3.\u00a0 Achieve Ambitious Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) consistent with the goal of preventing warming that exceeds 1.5 degrees Celsius<\/strong><\/p>\n

As we open each discussion, we will join the global voices of faith in\u00a0Prayers for the Planet<\/a><\/strong>, by invitation of the Interfaith Liaison Committee of the UNFCCC<\/a>.<\/p>\n
