Earth Day Live
From April 22, the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, to April 24, young people and adults will take action all across the United States and the world to demand transformative action is taken to address the climate crisis. This year, US Climate Strike and partners have organized Earth Day Live, a three-day livestream featuring activists, artists, thought leaders and performers. Each day will mobilize around a different topic: Strike, Divest and Vote (more info below). RSVP to the three-day livestream here. Watch and share this video about the importance of Earth Day Live, on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Faith Call to Climate Justice Web Summit
UU Ministry for Earth & UU Young Adults for Climate Justice have been active participants in the multi-faith working group of the US Climate Strike coalition. This is culminating in a very exciting Faith Call to Climate Justice Web Summit that will be a part of the Earth Day Live 2020 program. Find a full schedule of faith-led events here. See below for UU offerings.
April 22: Strike!
On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we will demonstrate our collective power and unity through community building and storytelling. This first day will focus on amplifying the voice of indigenous leaders and youth climate activists who are leading the movement to halt the climate crisis.
- Share on social media with this toolkit
- Follow the youth strike coalition, coordinated by Future Coalition: Zero Hour, Earth Guardians, Earth Uprising, Fridays For Future USA, Sunrise Movement, US Youth Climate Strike, Extinction Rebellion Youth, and International Indigenous Youth Council.
April 23: Divest!
Led by Stop the Money Pipeline Coalition, during this day of action we are calling for a global reset. We want to reprogram the economy so that it works for people and the planet, not polluters and politicians. Target JPMorgan Chase Bank, Liberty Mutual and BlackRock and demand they stop profiting off of the climate crisis and instead invest in solutions.
- Check out this great #PeopleNotPolluters art kit
- Read the 2020 Banking on Climate Change Report
April 24: Vote!
We need leaders who will address this existential threat. It’s critical for all of us to show up at the polls this year and vote for our future. So the final day will focus on the importance of voting through a nationwide youth voter registration day.
- Follow UU the Vote
- Support the Sunrise Movement to elect climate leaders
- Also watch the 24-hour livestream from Fridays for Future!
