You have three books to choose among:
An Indigenous People’s History of the United States by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz
This book describes and analyzes a four-hundred-year span of complex Indigenous struggles against the colonization of the Americas. The book highlights resultant conflicts, wars, and Indigenous strategies and sites of resistance. Both the concept of Manifest Destiny and the Doctrine of Discovery are addressed, and will give context to the UU call to action from the 2012 UUA General Assembly in Phoenix that repudiated the Doctrine of Discovery.
Justice On Earth, which includes writings from fourteen activist ministers and lay leaders. The book explores the ways in which racial justice, environmental justice, and economic justice are seen as issues competing for time, attention, and resources, and the ways the three are intertwined.
Dinosaur Dreaming: Our Climate Moment by Gail Collins-Ranadive.
This is a short book with big ideas and huge impact. Part personal story, part history, part call to action, this beautifully written book tells the story of the climate crisis through the lens of the life and perspective of a retired minister and her engineer partner.
In addition to the thank-you gifts, if you are new to UUMFE, the monthly eNEWS and weekly eVents emails will be sent to you to provide inspiration and connection to climate justice activities from UUs across the continent.
Any donation will be put to work right away to support climate justice. Thank you.
