UUMFE Signs on to Letter Urging Utility Shutoffs Moratorium

UUMFE joined over 630 groups in signing a letter urging the Biden Administration to issue an executive order to halt all household utility shutoffs during the pandemic. Water, power, and broadband utilities shutoffs remain a crisis for millions of people in the U.S., disproportionately hurting BIPOC communities. This moratorium, from the No Shutoffs Coalition, would help ensure everyone’s human right to these basic necessities that are lifelines during a global pandemic and record unemployment.
