Dear Friends,
In February 2019, the Juliana plaintiffs asked the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to stop the federal government from issuing leases and mining permits for extracting coal on federal public lands, leases for offshore oil and gas exploration and extraction activities, and federal approvals for new fossil fuel infrastructure while the court considers the government’s interlocutory appeal in Juliana v. United States, the constitutional climate lawsuit brought by 21 young Americans.
The purpose of this “preliminary injunction” is to stop the status quo from worsening and stop irreparable harm from occurring in the time it takes for the case to be heard by the Ninth Circuit.
While the government delays this case with its interlocutory appeal, we will not allow the government to continue to worsen the climate crisis and harm young people. We continue to do everything in our power to protect the rights of these youth. Read the press release here.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you all.

- Oral argument before the Ninth Circuit on the Juliana v. US interlocutory appeal was held in Portland, Oregon, in June 2019.
- 60 Minutes featured the Juliana case and several of the youth plaintiffs in January 2020.
We will keep you posted on the final dates for both events of these as soon as we know!
