UU Ministry for Earth Awarded Grant - We Need Your Help

Dear Friends,
We have some good news to share – UU Ministry for Earth has received a grant of $9,650 from the UU Funding Program, which will allow us to continue our work around environment and justice. We need your help to cover the UUMFE portion of the program budget. UUMFE needs to raise about $7,000 to meet our commitment to make environment and justice resources available to congregations.

I get joy when I give to causes and organizations I love. If this important work touches your heart as it does mine, please consider a gift to UUMFE to support this project. Contributions of all amounts would be greatly appreciated and we would also welcome a pledge if you can’t make a gift right now.

This new grant will help us refine, focus, and package the environment and justice content we have developed over the past year in different ways and targeted toward different audiences. We will accomplish this in collaboration and consultation with Dr. Mark Hicks, Professor of Religious Education at Meadville Lombard Theological School.

UUMFE intends to deepen the work by providing tools and support for congregations to understand the connections between their commitments to justice and their work for the environment. The essence of Dr. Hicks’ work and expertise is to create supportive learning environments where people can address issues in ways that are accessible to them. Mark stresses the need to both challenge people with new learning, but also to support them along the way. This enables cycles of continued learning that open increased levels of complexity and, ultimately, the changing of hearts and minds.

Best Wishes for a Green New Year,
Steve Maier
Interim Executive Director
